Where (the F) is Dara?

A few years ago, a certain TV weatherman whose daughter was a fan of Nickelodeon's "Dora The Explorer" revved up his New York accent and nicknamed me Dara The Explara'. I don't think he knew the half of my obsession with exploring the globe. As I set off to do just that, I hereby honor your pleas and vow to spare your email inboxes the horror of the mass update at every step. Instead, you can check here at will to track me and my little backpack as we venture around the world. Keep in touch!

Ahh, Asia

I forgot Asia. But step out of the airport into a hot night, wet with recent rain, surrounded by plastic flip flops and motorbikes and chickens, and it all comes flooding back. I made it safely to Vietnam. Apparently, I need a serious geography lesson... I assumed the flight from Tokyo to Saigon would be a couple of hours, but it was 7. Arms tired from much flying, I have spent the day traversing the city in sweltering heat exploring markets and museums and palaces, eating pho, and dodging indescribable lane-less freeform traffic. I even broke my own rule and took a motorbike taxi back from a pretty Chinese pagoda. I closed my eyes through the scariest intersections. Tomorrow, I'll head up to a mountain town called Dalat. All is well. Love to home.
